I've always been a wildly imaginative and creative person. My love of the written word began in the womb; my mother read out loud to me even then. I've always had a passion for reading. In fact, when I was really in trouble, my punishment would not be that I was grounded from watching TV or playing games. My mother would take away my books. I was seldom bad for this reason.
I was in fifth grade when I first discovered the joys of writing and I've been madly putting pen to paper ever since. It's the only way I can get the voices in my head to behave themselves. The characters in my head demand to see the light of day, even if I'm the only one that reads their stories.
It was around the same time that I learned to crochet. Too impatient to wait until my cousin had time to teach me, I mostly figured it out on my own. It wasn't until I was in college that I finally finished that first project (a bright yellow afghan) and I've been hooked (pun intended) ever since. The intervening years have been filled with one yarn project or another. I've gleaned most of my knowledge from the internet and TV, though I have a close group of friends that share my passion. We meet for lunch and share techniques and knowledge with each other. I never had a use for knitting until a few years ago when I discovered Portuguese style knitting. My world changed in an instant and I now both knit and crochet, though I would have to say crocheting is my first love.
I try very hard to be a good and giving person. I firmly believe a kind word goes a long way. I have a hard time with crowds of people; I get anxious and have panic attacks. I could go days with no contact with the outside world and be perfectly content with only myself for company. I have three cats: Simon, Tobias, and Anyanka. They were all named after characters from beloved TV shows. Taking naps on the weekend is one of my guilty pleasures. Science Fiction and Fantasy are probably my favorite genres for books, movies, and TV shows. I love music and can play the piano a little, but I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket if it were taped to my hand. I sing loudly with the radio anyway.
And now you know me.
